NEW 2011 PAR CHAMPIONSHIP SCORING AND ACCRUED YEAR-END POINTS SYSTEM

*Must be an SCCA Member to earn year-end championship points. If a competitor becomes a member after running two (2) PAR Solo Championships, the two previous events will retroactively added to their total year-end points. If a competitor waits until a third event to become a member, the points scored thereafter becoming a member will be counted.

13th PAR Solo Championship

All accrued points must be accomplished in the same class, but not necessarily in the same vehicle. If another vehicle is utilized (to earn year-end class points), it must in a vehicle that is eligible and legal (as per the SCCA rulebook) for that respective class or category for year-end points. Otherwise, the earned points will be accrued and credited towards another class or category that the vehicle in question falls into. Exception: Overall PAX will based on driver's total points, not based on the vehicle or class that the competitor may be driving at the time.

Each eligible competitor must attend and run in at least six (6) PAR Solo Championship events to receive an annual award at the season's end. If a competitor competes in ten (10) of the total thirteenth (13) PAR Solo Championship events, all points accrued for those ten events will count towards their total year-end point score and class (including PAX) awards with no "Drops". All points accrued beyond ten events (for any category) will be based upon their "Best of Ten" event scores and the rest of their event scores subsequently "dropped" .

"Two-Day" special events such as the Divisional, FAST FIVE, & the SOLO SHOOTOUT will count as two (2) separate championship events. A competitor may run only one (1) day of each of these special 2-Day events and receive one (1) championship event credit towards their minimum year-end eligibilty and points, but will not be eligible for the special "Two-Day" awards for that respective 2-Day event.

The new point scoring system is as follows:

  • 1st Place    20
  • 2nd Place    16
  • 3rd Place    13
  • 4th Place    11
  • 5th Place    9
  • 6th Place    7
  • 7th Place    6
  • 8th Place    5
  • 9th Place    4
  • 10th Place    3

No points will be scored or earned beyond 10th PLACE in any category.

All these of these new individually accrued point totals will be applied to each specified SCCA solo classes and to the LADIES, ROOKIE, STREET TIRE, and PRO(R Compound/Slicks) categories.

The PAX "Class Order of Finish" will still be determined by each individual PAX class percentage factor, but instead of using the PAX percentage (totals) for year-end points as in previous years, this new points system will be incorporated in its place to determine year-end points accruals for the PAX competitors scores for every individual event. In the event of a tie, the competitor that has earned the most points up to their first four (4) events will be declared the victor.

For the 2011 Season we are trying to reduce the number of 'single class' categories due to low turnout.  In order to improve the size of classes, and add some moderate competition back into the region we have established 4 overall 'Class Groupings', similar to the original Ladies and Rookie groups.  The four groups are:

Ladies

Ladies is a local regional category for women drivers of any car using any kind of tires. Each entrant in this category compete against each other based on their PAX handicapped time. The PAX handicap depends on the Open class that the vehicle would normally compete in.

Rookie

Rookie is a local regional category for novice drivers of any car using any kind of tires. Novice is defined as having raced at no more than 6 previous events.  Each entrant in this category compete against each other based on their PAX handicapped time. The PAX handicap depends on the Open class that the vehicle would normally compete in.

Street Tire

Street Tire is a local regional category for any drivers of any car using Street Tires (140+ Treadwear). Each entrant in this category compete against each other based on their PAX handicapped time. The PAX handicap depends on the Open class that the vehicle would normally compete in.

Pro (R Compounds and Slicks)

Pro is a local regional category for any drivers of any car using R Compound or Slicks. Each entrant in this category compete against each other based on their PAX handicapped time. The PAX handicap depends on the Open class that the vehicle would normally compete in.

For all REGIONAL events these will be the 4 classes.  We hope this will foster friendly competition.
